By Mike McAllister | PGA.com

The top 30 in FedExCup points are headed to East Lake for the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. Here’s a look at Scott Piercy, one of the 30 players who will contend for the FedExCup title.

SCENARIOS TO WIN FEDEXCUP: For Piercy to win the FedExCup, he MUST win the TOUR Championship and have the following scenarios fall into place:

Rory McIlroy (No. 1) finishes 29th* or worse
Tiger Woods (No. 2) finishes in a 3-way tie for 6th or worse
Nick Watney (No. 3) finishes in a 4-way tie for 3rd or worse
Phil Mickelson (No. 4) finishes T-3 or worse
Brandt Snedeker (No. 5) finishes in a 3-way tie for 2nd or worse
Louis Oosthuizen (No. 6) finishes T-2 or worse

*Tie for the FedExCup

SEASON IN REVIEW: Piercy won for the second time in as many years when he fired a course-record 62 in the first round of the RBC Canadian Open on the way to a one-stroke win. The victory was one of three top-5 finishes for the Las Vegas native. Piercy, who came into the BMW Championship ranked 29th in the FedExCup,  shot a final-round 68 but was still projected out of the top 30 when he finished. But Piercy got the last spot in the field for the TOUR Championship when Vijay Singh, who had started the final round tied for the lead, bogeyed three of his last four holes. Piercy will be making his debut at East Lake. – Helen Ross

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Fred Albers, on-course correspondent for SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, provides a quick look at Piercy: “A very confident player.  From Las Vegas and not afraid to take gambles with aggressive play during a round.  A very talented player who will win several more times.”
